 It’s amazing to look and see all of the various ways we communicate these days. By phone, by email, instant messaging, text messages, etc. As wonderful as all of these ways are and how easily they make us accessible, I still believe nothing is as effective as one-on-one face time.
Recently, we here at Scitent Technologies began trading emails back and forth regarding some new projects with a client. All of those communications, including phone conversations, were very productive but it wasn’t until we sat down face to face that all of the pieces of the puzzle came together. The real bonus for me, though, wasn’t so much the realization of the project but rather the excitement and charge in the air you felt as the passion and emotion from all involved filled the room. That feeling and how it helps bring a project to life really can’t be generated from black letters on a white page – much like this post.
For the New Year, I encourage you to leverage more and more face time with not just clients, but also the people you work with. I often laugh at myself for Skyping my fellow team players when they are literally sitting two feet away from me. My New Year’s resolution is going to be to invest in some good old fashion face time. After all, even in business, it’s really all about relationships.
