Looks like fun!

Kids love to have space in which to work on projects, whether it be a table, the basement, or whatever.  They arrange it however they want, then get to business.  As adults, we are frequently forced to conform to a workspace that is pre-defined and in which we have very little say.  This has a subtle but powerful effect - it increases stress and decreases morale and productivity.

Think about executives and other high-pay folks that get workspaces that are very different from the typical cube.  A lot of worker bees might tell you they are jealous of the fact that they typically have offices, but in reality, offices are tough places to work in - they isolate the worker in a confined space, compared to the workers who generally have wide-open areas that allow for teamwork and collaboration.  What the worker probably is jealous of is the fact that the officer has the ability to rearrange his/her workspace to suit, whereas most cubes are fixed.

Fortunately, the wise leadership here at Scitent have provided us work areas that are highly configurable.  So I was able to move my desk 180 degrees to face everyone else the in the room and boy do I feel more energized and plugged in!

So, to any CEOs, executives, or other folks who are responsible for the operations of your organizations - build floor plans that allows your employees to configure it to best suit their needs.  It'll be more expensive, but it will more than pay for itself in productivity, and everyone will be happier to boot!
